Golf

The Country Club of South Carolina has the largest practice facility in Florence.

Golf is a favorite sport across the Pee Dee, and Florence caters to the golf crowd with three courses:

Country Club of South Carolina is an 18-hole championship course has served as the site for multiple PGA-sanctioned tournaments. Features include a putting green, driving range and practice bunkers. All skill levels are accommodated.

A satisfying golf game awaits you on the 18-hole course at Olde English Trail Golf Club. Enjoy teeing off in this picturesque setting dotted with hills and ponds. Hone your skills on the 250-yard practice area, chipping and putting greens, and practice bunkers.

Traces Golf Club offers 27 holes on a beautiful, wooded stretch of perfectly manicured course. Three nine-hole courses provide options to suit golfers of all levels.

Tennis and Pickleball

You’ll find both tennis and pickleball courts at centrally located Timrod Park. The sprawling 18 acres is also where you'll find Florence’s favorite playground. There are picnic facilities and beautiful gardens to stroll through as well.

At the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, premier tennis and pickleball facilities include 24 asphalt courts and six Har-Tru clay courts. The activity center includes a lounge area, student study area, restrooms, locker rooms with showers, meeting and office space, and a stocked pro shop. 

Softball, Baseball, Soccer and More

Freedom Florence is the city's impressive, champion-caliber sports facility, featuring nine lighted softball fields, four football fields, a soccer field and gymnastics center. The venue hosts tournaments on the state, regional and national level. There are also picnic facilities, outdoor grills, a hiking trail and a fishing pond.

Carolina Bank Field is the home of the Florence Flamingos Coastal Plain League team. The ballpark, which seats more than 1,300 fans, is part of the larger Florence Sports Complex which includes five other baseball fields and a NCAA caliber track and field complex. 

The 80-acre new Florence Soccer Complex with 14 fields, concessions and tons of parking, has already kicked up the area’s soccer experience several notches. A playground, picnic areas, walking trails and more are part of the vision for this premier venue.

The newly renovated skate park at McLeod Park features a custom design-build flow/transition area, lots of obstacles, and a fun “kidney bowl” for honing techniques. There's also nature trails, 2 picnic shelters, restrooms, 5 lighted baseball fields, concession stands, press boxes, 6 basketball goals and competition horseshoe facility.

Kayaking and Canoeing

The Lynches River in Florence is a paddlers paradise.

Lynches River County Park is a popular put-in site for paddlers. It also marks the beginning of one of Florence’s most lauded water excursions, the South Carolina Revolutionary Rivers Trail. The 66-mile trail meanders through the county, offering paddlers a chance to see where legendary war hero General Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion, led his militia through the cypress swamps to outsmart British troops. The scenery is breathtaking and the history compelling. Local outfitters are at your service to lead the way on day trips or rustic overnight paddling and camping excursions. Hiking

The Florence Trail System offers hikers and bikers approximately 45 linked miles of leg-stretching pathways that connect to parks, historical sites and features that define the natural beauty of the town.

Racing

Florence Motor Speedway is home to some of the region’s most exciting stock car racing. Saturday nights from April through November sizzle at the 3,500-seat venue, which also offers great concessions and a high-energy kart track.
